Call to Celebration
Praise is due to you, O God, O you who answers prayer.
Happy are those who live in your courts—those who are satisfied with the goodness of your house and your holy temple…
You are the hope of all things, Holy One, from the ends of the earth to the farthest seas…
You make the gateways of the evening and the morning shout for joy…
Rejoice in God, O people, and be glad…
Let us shout and sing together for joy.
Amen.
Offertory
We gather this day to worship and honor the God of Many Names...the God who enriches us with wisdom…the God who blesses us with plenty…the God who is our salvation…and the God in whose name we honor the faith of the other as we honor our own. Aware of the bounty of the God who created our universe, we humbly and generously share God’s blessings to us through our tithes, pledges, and offerings, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Scripture Lesson
Mark 8:27-30
New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition
27 Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi, and on the way, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?”28 And they answered him, “John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.” 29 He asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Messiah.”30 And he sternly ordered them not to tell anyone about him.
