Virtual Church 2021-01-03 Living in the Here and Eternal!

January 3, 2021

Our Advent adventure is now taking us to the next stage of our Spiritual Maturity.  It seems to me in order to reach the next stage we must develop the discipline in time and space (Chronological Time) while accessing and living in our Eternal Time. They are not mutually exclusive.  They are both and!  Our job is to be in tuned to the present while being conscious of our eternal or soul self.  The begging of the Gospel of John opens a window for us to discover this other worldly reality.

  • In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
  • There are two Greek words for time:

                Chronos—linear time

Kairos—Literally—in the moment. Eternal time kairos is "a passing instant when an opening     appears which must be driven through with force if success is to be achieved."

  • Cottonwood de Tucson

Meditating in the desert—-for the first time in my 35-year-old life I was consciously present in the                   moment. I felt connected to God. Great discovery—God is in the present moment.

  • The lesson I have learned from being a student of Jesus is this, it is when I am fully present in the present moment, I feel most connected to the divine. Living in the past and or the future interferes with this eternal reality.
  • In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
  • The passage states that Jesus was in the beginning with God even though he was a historical figure in the first century.
  • How can this be?
  • The Logos of Jesus, the essence of Jesus was and is eternal.
  • I believe the same is true for each of us. Jesus was fully conscious of his earthly and eternal self. In the world but not of it. Not defined by linear time and experience.
  • The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.
  • I did not recognize the light for the first half of my life. I was a minister who preached every week for God’s sake!
  • After my dessert experience my preaching changed profoundly. Rather preach what I hope was true, I started preaching about what I knew was TRUE!
  • Experiencial!
  • Does this make me special? Absolutely NOT! Look at the passage again.
  • 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.
  • I believe Jesus was fully conscious of his unconscious self.

This is why I have spent my adult life studying him.

As I recognized Jesus more clearly I started to see myself.

I recognized the Divine in me.

  • Even though it is hard not to live distracted, when I am living in the moment, in eternal time, is when I feel fully connected to God and myself.
  • I have learned that a huge part of the Spiritual Journey is being able to function in Time and Space while living consciously in eternal time. In the moment fully!
  • 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
  • Jesus has been my teacher, mentor and guide that has given me the experience of LIFE, Zoe.
  • It has been my walk with him that has Empowered Me to Overcome all of the Darkness in my life.
  • Matthew, Mark, Luke and John have given me the tools to live in my light, Christ’s Light, God’s Light!!!

Thus ends the lesson

Call to Celebration

God of Grace, fill us with your light.

Shine your light among us.

God of Truth, fill us with your wisdom.

Shine your light among us.

God of Inspiration, empower us to spread the Good News.

Shine your light among us.

Infinite God, we have entered this space to experience Presence.

God, shine your light within us. Amen

Offertory

God, all of creation begins with you. Our transformation is in continuum. As we are progressing, remind us that what we put into the process is what we receive from it. Teach us to become more fluid so that our flow remains open. Amen
